However, the reality for many mums can be far from this, with low moods anxiety andworrying thoughts and feelings.

“Happy to Chat” Bench at Victoria Gardens: Spreading Smiles and Kindness

“Happy to Chat” Bench at Victoria Gardens: Spreading Smiles and Kindness

At NPT Mind, we believe that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in supporting mental well-being—and our latest initiative is a perfect example of this! We’re excited to announce the launch of our “Happy to Chat” bench at Victoria Gardens, a place designed to encourage people to connect, share a moment, and brighten each other’s day.

The concept is simple but powerful: The “Happy to Chat” bench is a welcoming space where anyone can sit and know that if they want to, they’re free to chat with someone nearby. Whether it’s a friendly conversation or an opportunity to pause and relax, the bench aims to foster a sense of community and reduce the isolation that many people feel.

Mental health is something that affects everyone, and we often forget that talking to someone—even a brief, casual chat—can be incredibly uplifting. The “Happy to Chat” bench is a way to encourage those spontaneous, supportive conversations that might just make someone’s day a little bit brighter.

We invite you to come visit the bench, take a seat, and be part of a movement that values connection and compassion. If you see the bench, and you’re in the mood for a chat, don’t hesitate to strike up a conversation. It’s all about breaking down barriers, building friendships, and reminding each other that we’re never alone.

Let’s spread kindness, one chat at a time. Come and be part of the conversation at Victoria Gardens!

NPT Mind First Mental Elf Run at Aberavon sea front on Saturday 14th December

NPT Mind First Mental Elf Run at Aberavon sea front on Saturday 14th December

Thank you and well done to all our amazing elves who walked, ran and wheeled the 5k fun run dressed in festive elf costumes fundraising for NPT Mind.

Aberavon beach provided a gorgeous setting taking our elves along the sea front offering beautiful views across the Swansea Bay. We had a great turn out with Volunteers and spectators cheering on our elves, creating a fantastic afternoon that inspired everyone to keep going, no matter the pace.

The Mental Elf 5K is more than just a race, it’s about raising awareness and combatting mental health stigma. At the finish line, runners were greeted with applause, medals, and most importantly, a sense of a run well done!

The success of our first Mental Elf Run wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our community. From our dedicated volunteers, Run for All Neath, Paul our compare and all of our fantastic runners.

As we celebrate this milestone, we’re already looking forward to the next Mental Elf Run. We hope to see even more of you join us in 2025!

We’re excited to launch our first ever Mental Elf 5km event this December!

Celebrating World Mental Health Day 2024 at the Swansea National Waterfront Museum

Celebrating World Mental Health Day 2024 at the Swansea National Waterfront Museum

we were excited to be at Swansea Amgueddfa Genedlaethol y Glannau – National Waterfront Museum, as part of a fantastic event celebrating World Mental Health Day 2024 (#WMHD24). This event brought together over 60 organisations, all dedicated to supporting mental health and wellbeing in our community.

The event showcased a wide variety of local services that offer support, resources, and guidance for mental health. One of the key highlights of the day was the launch of Sorted Supported and Tidy Minds, two new initiatives designed to empower individuals with the tools and support they need to improve their mental wellbeing.

In addition to the numerous information stands, the event featured free wellbeing workshops running throughout the day. These sessions covered a range of topics, from mindfulness and self-care techniques to creative activities designed to boost mental health.

It was truly inspiring to be part of this vibrant, supportive community and to see the wealth of resources available for those seeking help with their mental health and wellbeing. A big thank you to the organisers for bringing together such an important and valuable event, spreading the word about the incredible mental health support available across Neath and Port Talbot and Swansea Bay.

What a meaningful and uplifting World Mental Health Day 2024!

Neath Port Talbot Mind has been awarded the Mind Quality Mark.

Neath Port Talbot Mind has been awarded the Mind Quality Mark.

The Mind Quality Mark is a rigorous quality assurance standard. It sets the bar of good practice and legal compliance for all organisations in the Mind Federation.

Local Minds are reviewed against the Mind Quality Mark standards every three years. The reviews are led by people with lived experience of mental health problems and senior leaders from other local Minds. They are based on a robust assessment of documentary evidence as well as interviews with and survey responses from trustees, staff, volunteers, and people who use services.

To achieve the Mind Quality Mark, local Minds must be well-run organisations delivering safe, life-changing support for people with mental health problems.
