Trauma Informed Practice

Supporting and Empowering Neurodiverse Young People

At The SEND Project, our practitioners offer courses and drop-in groups designed to support and empower children and young people (aged 11+) who are neurodivergent or are awaiting a diagnosis.

Our bespoke 6-week course provides a safe and supportive space where participants can build confidence, develop coping strategies, and gain practical tools to manage anxiety and everyday challenges. Each course is tailored to the needs and interests of the group, ensuring that every young person feels seen, heard, and supported.

Through engaging sessions, participants will explore topics such as:

  • Managing difficult emotions
  • Breaking unhelpful thinking habits
  • Living with uncertainty
  • Finding your place in the family
  • Anxiety and fears for the future
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Grief and loss
  • Relaxation and self-care

The sessions also include myth-busting resources developed by Neath Port Talbot and Swansea Education Services, helping to challenge misconceptions and promote understanding of neurodiversity.

  • Neurodiverse Drop-In Group: Thursdays, 4:00–6:00 pm
